Class A Girls
4x800 Meter Relay
In truth, we expected this to be a battle between Wheeling Central and Doddridge.
However, Charleston Catholic took the early lead and never looked back, shattering
the record and going 9:50.22. The time scored them as the 7th best Class A-AA
State Meet performance. Wheeling Central made a late charge behind Julia
McGinley's 2:23 leg as they went 9:52.70. Doddridge also broke the old record
and just missed going under 10:00. More than 40 seconds passed before the next
team would cross. Richwood held that 4th position, six seconds ahead of Williamstown.
St. Marys slipped in just under 11:00 for 6th.
RunWV's Current Score: 6 of 6.

through again with a toss of 108'1 to win by over 3'. Williamstown's Laura
Ankrom had a toss of 104'6 putting her over 9' ahead of third place finisher
Mary Beth Peden of Charleston Catholic. St. Marys' Amanda Kerns

Only four girls managed to clear the opening height in the drizzle and the puddles.
Only a pair managed to clear a second height. Among the victims was pre-meet

Monica Wamsley won a jump-off over Doddridge's Jennie Spencer for the
title. Valley Fayette's Nikki Costa and St. Marys' Megan Elder were
the other jumpers to clear a height and finished in 3rd and 4th, respectively.
RunWV's Current Score: 21 of 30.
3200 Meter Run
Doddridge's Clara Grandt took the early lead on lap 3 and built a bit of
a gap through lap 5. Then Wheeling Central's Stephanie Caruso began to close
the gap. She made the pass early in lap 7 and sped home to a convincing victory.
Grandt easily held on to 2nd. Caruso's teammate Kallen Weaver never threatened
the front two and was never threatened herself by anyone behind her. She spent most
of the race running all alone. Doddridge's Elizabeth Hyde took control of
4th on lap 4 and eaily held the spot. Williamstown's Heidi Webb was not
challenged for 5th. Doddridge's Emily Coffman started to pull away from the pack
